Lyle Overbay had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Miguel Batista carried a no-hitter into
the 6th inning as the Chainsaw Proctologists defeated the California Gangsta
Luv in 13 innings 5 to 2 at the ballpark.
The score was tied at 2 after nine. Chainsaw won it in the 13th inning.
Marcus Thames led off and he drew a walk. Thames was safe on a stolen base.
Two outs later Ramon Castro came up and he was walked intentionally. Overbay
stepped in and he belted a three-run homer (his 1st of the season) making
Chainsaw the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. Chainsaw
had 12 hits for the game and California had 4.
Rafael Betancourt(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2/3 of an inning
and allowing no runs. The right-handed Batista had his no-hit bid broken up
by Kelly Johnson who doubled with nobody out in the 6th inning. Woody
Williams(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed 3 runs and 5 hits
in 4 and 2/3 innings.
